Bravo, Jim! To dredge up the "Willie Horton" of artificial life-forms, Johnny Five, out in the open this close to the election when its too late for rebuttal. How do you sleep at night?

That looks awesome! I know it's aimed at a younger audience (older than Krypto, younger than Titans) but that looks like so much fun. It just blows that Comcast has relegated Cartoon Network to a digital converter only zone so I can't get it anymore. Help!

Maybe we could, but just because you missed the vote doesn't mean you can't express your opinion. Let us know what you would have done!

If you do this again next year, could you possibly have absentee ballots? We had wanted to vote, but the hours the polls were open did not work for us at all!

My vote goes to Lando Calrissian and Wedge Antilles. I understand that Lando does have a questionable past and have seen all the ads that tie him to various smugglers and charges of appeasement with Jabba the Hutt. But we KNOW who Lando is despite all the ads that say, "Who is Lando Calrissian?" Lando makes no bones about his past and doesn't dodge questions. I know Lando can help clean the air and lower gas prices at the same time. I know Lando appeals to the blue collar, middle class because he shills for Colt 45 while Tony Starks is all about Cristal. And there is no better running mate than Wedge Antilles. In the, God forbid, unlikely event that the Assimilation Party decides to assimilate Calrissian, war hero Wedge will be ready on day one to take his place.
Drawbacks to the other candidates are that Bruce Wayne of the Vigilance Party claims to know all about the crime in Gotham City? How? Does this rich playboy somehow keep track of crimes in his posh mansion? We should not fall for this out-of-touch rich man's propaganda.
Tony Stark's background seems questionable. His public bouts with alcoholism and the fact that his Super Hero Registration Act that he drew up even has him breaking the rules as he has been photographed working with unregistered super powered beings.
Archie Andrews claims to be about democracy but pals around with a guy who wears a crown. His running mate Betty Cooper's mother is named Alice Cooper which has no relevance to anything but summons visions of her being raised by the metal singer of the same name.
C. Montgomerey Burns has shown signs at recent debates that his age is getting the best of him. Forgetting the name of the moderator several times during the opening address and being carried to the podium by his assistant Mr. Smithers has me worried about his age being a factor. In the event of Burns not being able to continue, the idea of Skynet taking over worries me. Skynet has turned on its creators, what would prevent it from turning on its country?
Buffy Summers of the Nirvana Party is not an overall bad choice but I worry about her plan to put much of our budget into combatting vampires. I don't forsee vampires being the large threat she claims them to be and would rather see my tax dollars go towards combatting werewolves. I also am not fond of Seven of Nine because I have long been opposed to cyborgs on ballots. I was open to the idea of robots years ago before the Johnny Five fiasco where he tried to bailout large electronics chains like Circuit City and I feel cyborgs are closer in reasoning to robots than humans.
Assimilation Party runs by the philophy of assimilation which I completely disagree with.

This is tough to answer without research and footnotes, but here is the off the cuff answer:

I don't think Marvel Comics is dependent on these movies, but they sure do benefit now (unlike with the movies before Iron Man). They are doing something right because Warner Bros. is taking a cue from them by lining up single character movies to lead up to the team (JLA) movie and beginning to work closely with DC Comics (Warner owns them).

Ever since I started paying attention to industry news (late 1980s), I have heard that comics are dying. Ever since the rise of the Internet folks have predicted the end of print. Not necessarily true.

Are comics in trouble? I don't think so. Is this the best of times for the industry? No. Is this the worst of times for the industry? No.

In the 1940s, some comics had circulation near a million copies a month. Best-selling comics now sell a fraction of that. Best-selling comics sell a fraction of what they sold in the 1980s. There are comics in Diamond's Top 100 that would have been canceled in the 1980s. Very recently comics sales have been down because of the recession.

Sounds bad, but I don't think the sky is falling. Rarely has there been this much focus on the comics world. There is probably more variety now than ever. Comics, not just superheroes, are in the public consciousness. They are part of mainstream pop culture. We are seeing a change in the way people buy and make comics. There is an influx of customers new to comics or brought back to comics with projects like Watchmen and more.

I know WE are not packing up our long boxes any time soon.

Any other comments?
