Discounted Comics and Real Estate and Big Blue Barrels

What do these have in common?
Paul has comics for sale, one son is a real estate agent and another son has big blue barrels available.

Here’s the deal in a snapshot: Visit www.buyandsellhomesde.com and receive a coupon good for 50% off all 3/4″ green-tagged comics at Captain Blue Hen Comics in Newark, Delaware plus a discount (only $20 each) on those beautiful, big blue barrels. Coupons will be good for two months from the time of sign-in at the site.

Why are we doing this? Obviously to get you into the habit of checking our sites on a regular basis. In these blogs, you will find specials and contests that are NOT being advertised elsewhere.

What’s so special about the www.buyandsellhomesde.com website? Paul has made it possible for the potential home owner or seller to check out and compare other listings and get information not available on other agents’ sites. You can get comparisons of homes in different neighborhoods including not only values, but pictures, maps, local services, crime rates (very specific), schools (includes test scores, student/teacher ratios and much, much more) - information that some realtors either do not know or are unwilling to release. It’s all yours and IT’S FREE! It even has tips on trying to buy or sell on your own and, again, there is no obligation. Naturally, Paul would like to pick up clients through this website, but is doing this for goodwill. Pass it on to friends and family.
If you would like a contact and/or the discount coupon, it will be necessary for you to go to the “About Me” link and fill in the contact info so that we know you have visited the site. Then, come to the shop (give us at least one day) and your name will be on the “visitors list” to receive your coupon.

Big Blue Barrels & More - Ramblings from Paul

barrels

It’s been a while since I posted anything on the site and had a few moments, so…

Big Blue Barrels - Yep, we still have some, but the supply will be dried up shortly. These are 55 gallons and made of heavy (strong but light) blue plastic. The cover is completely removeable with a airtight seal and two 2″ threaded portals for attaching a pump, etc. The original product shipped in these is double bagged and then removed - these are clean. They have many uses, the most popular seems to be for collecting rain water (remember, we’re located next to a health food store). But, other uses are storage, pond filters, floats, trash containers. Cost is only $25 each. Paul can deliver quantities within a short distance. Usually, you can fit one in a car.

Gone, Gone, Gone A couple of items that were previously listed for sale on this site are gone - That beautiful 2006 Dodge Charger SRT8 went to a nice couple in Ohio (yes, they found it while googling the net and came upon our site!) and one of our members saw the wooden back issues bins and somehow convinced the wife that he had to have them!!

Going, Going, soon to be Sold .I have been a little busy lately and have not posted items on eBay recently, but that will change soon. Remember to put “CBHCOMICS” as a favorite seller and check in every so often. Naturally, you won’t have to pay shipping!
I’m also thinking of trying a “silent auction” at the shop. My thoughts were to put up some items with a low opening bid and NO RESERVE! Bidders then submit their best offer on paper by the posted deadline. This will not be a live auction style, but a no games playing, make a reasonable now instead of waiting til the end type of deal. I am still mulling over the concept and welcome any ideas or suggestions.

Finally, CUBANE is Back! Paul’s son, Paul, the real estate agent for Realty Executives (383 - 7998) is also an accomplished bass player. Having played with Delirium Theory / Trail of Temper for over 6 years, Paul left and helped form the new hard rock band CUBANE. As happens with bands, members come and go, and they now have a new lead singer on board, Shaun Trainor, and are ready to rock. Catch Paul, Shaun, guitarist Tom Castiglione, and Matt Doyle on drums this Friday the 13th at the “baby grand” (next door to the Wilmington Opera House on Market Street). Doors open at 8:30. For more info, go to myspace/cubane.

Comics for Coins I am still willing to trade green-tagged comics for US coins of interest. Being a collector and not a dealer, I usually can offer a better deal them most. See Paul at the shop.

Comics for Classic Cars My youngest son and I are looking for an old muscle car, preferably a “bowtie” (Chevelle, Camaro, or Nova) to restore. We’re not interested in something that would require extensive body work (by the way, i need a good contact to work on my Chevelle for some patch work - know anyone?)

New Silver & Golden Age Collection - 1st Thor & More

Paul just bought a collection of about 200 silver & golden age comics. Included in the bunch is a Journey Into Mystery 83, the first appearance of Thor (He gets a new series shortly.) Instead of paying the guide price of $12,500 for a NM copy, you could own this one for a mere $395 Also, in the batch was a copy of Showcase #8, the second Flash, which guides at $18,000 in NM. Sorry, but that one got snagged up within a half hour of being put on display!
Still lots of other great issues in the lot - such as Fighting American #1, Space Ghost #1, Space Family Robinson #1, a Frank Frazetta cover to Buck Rogers, lots of S.A. Action, Justice League, Superman and Batman related issues, and much more. The collection came in with some in great shape and some pretty beat. For example, you can pick up a J.I.M. #85 (1st Loki - $2100 in NM) for only $15 or a Fantastic Four #10 for just 5 bucks. The comics must have been stored in two different locations. Anyway, check the showcases, the new box on top and the boxes in front of the booths for these new additions. Lay-a-ways can be arranged.

COINS WANTED!! willing to trade comics for them!

I’ve always been a collector - comics (of course), baseball cards, rocks & minerals, and my first - COINS!!! Being a baby boomer, I grew up when Indian head pennies, V and buffalo nickels, and Barber coins were common in change. I had a great collection until I fell for a 1952 MG TD (right from England - steering wheel was on the right side!) that I saw at a dealership in PA. Sold the collection and got into British sports cars for a long time. Now, it’s muscle cars of the 60’s & 70’s. Anyway, a good friend and the new statehood quarters rekindled my interest. So… I am willing to trade comics (those with the green tags, even those in the showcase) for American coins of interest. I am willing to offer 10 times face in trade at my prices marked (not any sale price) for silver coins - pre 1965 quarters, dimes, & halves and 1942 - 1945 war time nickels. $20 trade for 1878 - 1935 silver dollars. Coins may be worn, but not bent or holed If you have other material of interest, especially “key” coins, maybe we can work something out. These offers are being made by Paul only - kindly bring in coins only when I am on and try to avoid Wednesdays. Thanks

Sorry, The ANNEX is No More! BUT…

BUT, BUT that doesn’t mean the great sales are ending. Read on - The landlord found a new tenant (one willing to pay full rent!) so we had to give up all of that glorious room. So where did all of that stuff go, you ask? It’s in a public storage unit. As a result, we will be rotating the bins in the shop with boxes in storage. We will try to do it once a week.
Here is what is also in storage: 2 of the custom wooden comic bins that we use for our back issues. Each unit measures 8′ by 2′ and has 11 openings - the same as the ones in the store. AND… they could be yours, for only $75 each (less than the cost of the lumber!). We still have those Starting Line-ups and Star Trek figures at only $2.00 each, BUT, if someone would be willing to take ALL of a group, you can have them for only one buck per piece!
