GREEN LANTERN CORPS ANNUAL #1
Writer: Peter Tomasi
Artists: ChrisCross
DC Comics | comic | $4.99

If you’ve ever read one of my reviews, you know that the biggest part of what makes a comic great is the creative team. I follow writers. It takes a while for me to warm up to a writer. Peter Tomasi was an editor at DC Comics. No offense to editors, but this is a stumbling block to me. For some reason, I think that an editor who becomes a writer must be second-rate. Otherwise, why didn’t they get the writing gig first? I admit that’s not really fair, and it turns out Tomasi is great as a comic book writer. I like the Green Lantern mythos and enjoy a good Batman yarn, but I probably wouldn’t follow Green Lantern Corps or Batman and Robin if not for the excellent writing of Tomasi.

You can’t get a good comic if you don’t have good art. ChrisCross should have more work. His art is crisp and clear and grabs the reader with its individual style.

The GLC Annual wraps up the “Rise” storyline where the Guardians want to eradicate the Lanterns! This is status quo changing stuff here!

DC Comics says:

  • “RISE OF THE THIRD ARMY” ends here!
  • Thanks to the Third Army, the Guardians have shut down the Green Lantern Corps!
  • Everything from the GREEN LANTERN comics from the past few months has been building to this.
  • Get ready for a go-for-broke ending, which sets up the next great GREEN LANTERN event!
