Because You Demanded It…
Remember Dazzler # 42? Those were the lead words on the cover that stated it was the last issue. Well, because you demanded it, or rather seemed to care less, I have decided to shut down the American Idol contest we started a week ago. The interest has been underwhelming, to say the least.
Perhaps it is because it is basically a karaoke contest with talented singers. Maybe what you really want is original rock and roll by talented people!! Well folks, wait no longer! ‘Cause CUBANE is back!! The band is doing their first gig in a year and returns to JB McGinnes (Basin Road Shopping Center – near Wm. Penn HS) Friday night. Be there by 9 PM as they are only doing one set! This will be your first chance to catch their new drummer, Kyle. Whoa! Hold on a moment. We know Tom left to pursue his other career and education, and Matt was working down in the gulf for months. Did he leave, also. No, the multi-talented Mr. Doyle is taking over guitar duties! Of course, Paul – former winner of the Philadelphia Music Awards Best Bass Player trophy – is still there. (sorry, had to brag about the spawn a little) But here is another surprise – Ricky Cubane is back! Yes, the band did lose lead singer Shawn Trainor (it hopes to colaborate with him on some future projects), but Ricky is right there to step in. I guess that means that one of my favorite all-time songs of theirs will be played – “Hearts of Men”! It was like their anthem – even other bands sang along with it. You know I’ll be there.
Speaking of things returning – the BIG BLUE BARRELS BE BACK, BUNKIES!I have a connection and will be offering those gorgeous 55 gallon, blue, ultra-clean, heavy plastic barrels with the locking tops again.
