What We’re Reading This Week: 12/22-12/29

Dave Edition
I think of SECRET AVENGERS as a kind of special missions book with Steve Rogers/Super-Soldier and Sharon Carter/Agent 13 as the core characters. The other characters are chosen for missions based on powers or skill set. Reading S.A. is more like watching Mission Impossible than Lost—they both have action, but Lost is more character-driven while M.I. is all about getting from Point A to Point B. In comic terms, Secret Avengers is Marvel Two-In-One rather than Fantastic Four. Stories in Secret Avengers, like Marvel Two-In-One in the 1970s, seem to pop up around the need to take down a bad guy or a second-string character solving a problem.

I would think any modern comic fan would give this a shot based solely on the creators: Ed Brubaker (Captain America) and Mike Deodato (Dark Avengers)!
