It’s Constitution Day and we are going to celebrate with a sale never seen before!
In 2004, September 17th was officially recognized as “Constitution Day” to commemorate that day in 1787 when it was signed. Naturally, everyone is also aware that it is the anniversary of the epic Battle of Antietam fought in our neighboring state of Maryland during the Civil War, to be followed almost a century later by what Captain Blue Hen Comics might refer to as “Founder’s Day”. Yeah, it’s my birthday and I’m giving you customers a present!
I will be working this Sunday, the 19th and Monday, the 20th. Stop in and ANY green tagged comic in the bins is 75% OFF. Any green-tagged comic in the showcases will be 50% off. We have never discounted these this deep before! Here’s the fine print – no lay-a-ways! You are getting two days notice (stores usually do not give you advance notice of sales – it would kill business in the days leading up to it!). You may not put anything away to save for purchase those two days and you MUST pay in full at time of purchase. That’s it. See ya at 12 noon on Sunday. Remember, this sale is for these two days, only!
You know my blogs are always long, so why change now? Speaking of the Constitution, it never ceases to amaze me that some politicians and pundits who claim moral superiority, also claim that we need to go back to the constitution, especially the first amendment. Have they read it? Our founding fathers were wise men – wise enough to realize that they may not have thought of everything and that as the world changes, the constitution also needs to reflect those changes, so we have amendments. But for those who haven’t read it in a while – here is the 1st Amendment – “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” Read it, especially those first ten words. As Stan Lee has said, “‘Nuff, said?”
Breaking news item – Jon Stewart has announced a “Rally to Restore Sanity” scheduled for Saturday, October 30th in Washington, DC. I can imagine this being a fun, yet, important event. Naturally, Stephen Colbert then announced his tongue-in-cheek “March to Keep Fear Alive” for the same day in DC! You can go to www.rallytorestoresanity.com for more info.
O-kay, off the political stuff – back to Rock & Roll! Don’t forget, next weekend, The Company, featuring CUBANE’s lead singer, Shawn Trainor, will be performing Pink Floyd’s The Wall album at the Arden Gild Hall. I’m going Friday night!
