Ultimate Batman and Superman?
‘Superman: Earth One’ & ‘Batman: Earth One’ New GN Series
Starting in 2010 DC Comics will publish two new series of original graphic novels, Superman: Earth One and Batman: Earth One. Each series will be set in its own new continuity. The first volumes are set to reintroduce the origins and formative years of DC’s big two.
Batman will be handled by writer Geoff Johns and artist Gary Frank while J. Michael Straczynski and artist Shane Davis will take on Superman.
From this earliest of reports (gleaned from an ICv2.com announcement), it does not appear that we will see a re-imagining. This looks to be more of a general audience/movie/classic approach. These should be good for the casual reader or fans of the characters that do not want to get wrapped up in crossovers or extended continuity. (So why call it Earth One? Won’t that be confusing? Oh well.)
