Micronauts Movie? Whoo-hoo!

micronautsYou might be saying: “Micronauts? Who?” But I am a child of the ’70s, and for me Micronauts were the best thing since sliced bread (yeah, apparently there was a point where you had to slice your own bread).

Micronauts was a series of toys from Japan that were interchangeable and robotic with space ships and tons of accessories like helmets, swords, and glider packs! Sorry ’80s kids, Micronauts are way cooler than Transformers.

And Micronauts was a Marvel comic, too. The first twelve issues by Bill Mantlo and Michael Golden was an epic sharing elements from Star Wars (do I have to say A New Hope?), Robert E. Howard, Lee & Kirby, and more. The rest of the series, all written by the underrated Mantlo, was great fun as well with art by Pat Broderick, Jackson Guice, Gil Kane, and Steve Ditko. It was all high adventure, space battles, laser guns, and super heroes–everything a kid is looking for in a comic book.

Now it may be a movie produced and directed by J.J. Abrams (Lost, Star Trek).

My inner 9-year-old is buzzing like he just had a dozen Pixie Sticks.
