Pearl Jam, Comics Art, and Indie Stores

pearljam-backspacer-web-450x450PEARL JAM, a Seattle-based rock band that debuted in 1991, is still “Alive” and well in 2009. The Eddie Vedder-fronted group has continued to do two things in the last 18+ years: a. rock, and b. use their status to make social/political/economic statements.

PJ usually go out of their way to look out for the fans and their fellows in the music industry. With the September 20th release of their new album, BACKSPACER, the band is at it again. Besides for two major outlets (that don’t need any help from our humble website), the new album is available only at independently-owned record stores. These specialty shops need all the help that they can get. Pearl Jam should be commended for their efforts to promote these indie stores.

If you are in Newark, Delaware you should go to Wonderland or Rainbow on Main Street for all your music needs. These are both great locally-owned stores that have been part of our community for a long time.

So, besides for CBH being a locally-owned Main Street business that you should frequent often and tell all your friends, family, and co-workers about, why include Pearl Jam’s Backspacer on our website? Well, the album cover and thick booklet are jammed with spiffy comics art by alternative comics artist, Tom Tomorrow. Neat stuff!
