Eeked Out!
Last Thursday night, CUBANE was eeked out of the Trenz Magazine’s Battle of the Bands by good friends Peace With Doubt at the Retox. According to the judges, CUBANE had won the online voting, Peace With Doubt just edged them on the in person voting, but was given the nod for getting a better crowd reaction (of course, being able to bring the bikini girls up on stage with them during their performance didn’t hurt!). Anyway, good luck to PWD this Thursday night as they go for the title at JB McGinnes Pub!
There is another option for rock entertainment this Thursday right here in Newark – Hyjinx is playing an acoustic set at 7:00 PM on the green on Main St in front of the old Academy building, next to where the Balloon used to be. For those not aware, Hyjinx features the keyboard work and back up vocals of Captain Blue Hen’s very own Jason Biel. The multi-talented Jason is also a published fantasy author who has appeared at one of our Harry Potter gatherings. I have heard Hyjinx play and highly recommend them – let’s hope for decent weather.
Eeked out – I just saw Randy Jackson from American Idol interviewed on the Today show and he was naturally very positive about all of the remaining contestants, but if I’m reading between the lines correctly, he seemed surprised by Allison’s departure last week. He claims all 4 judges will be back next year, regardless of rumors swirling around. I claim Kris goes this week.
Eek! A Mouse! Of the Mickey-type (really stretching it here!) I’m putting those early Mickey Mouse items I mentioned last week on eBay later this week. Avoid the competition and scoop them up now. Currently, I have groups of Bugs Bunny, Marge’s Tubby, and miscellaneous Disney comics up on eBay. These are scheduled to end this Wednesday night just after 10:00 PM. None of these comics have ever been in the shop. In addition, some of those old film reels that didn’t sell the first time are going off at roughly the same time.To take a look, go to eBay, and under “advanced search”, type in cbhcomics under “sellers.”
Kris has to go this week. No other options. Then it will come down to Danny and Adam and Adam will win and I will be sad. However, if for some surprising reason Kris stays and Danny goes, we know it will be on looks alone. The boy is pretty to look at. (As a girl at Captain Blue Hen Comics, I assure you, this comment does not out weigh any “cute girl” conversations we have had, and is by far, much tamer).
Hyjinx looks fun! Hopefully I will get to see them!
