A lost earring, Simon says, Mickey Mouse, Boris Karloff, & a Polka Dot Bikini

What do these things have in common? Not much really, except that Paul is going to mention them in this blog!

LOST, BUT FOUND at F.C.B.D. We know that one of our roughly 1300 attendees lost his set of keys that day and we couldn’t help find them, but we DID find a lone earring. It is pink. The owner can claim by identifying its shape. Also, we found a $100 bill on the floor. The owner can form a double line starting Tuesday morning. You will need the serial number to identify it as yours.

The American Idol Contest was a bust!! I really guessed wrong on the interest this would generate. We had ONE, yes, ONE, entry, and it was not valid since the 4 questions were not answered (Sarah’s Mom!!). Anyway, as predicted here, Matt was booted off last week. Three more weeks until Adam is crowned.

mickey-mouse-faceDisneyania Fans, have we got something for you!! If you are a Mickey Mouse fan, we just picked up 4 very rare pieces from the 1930′s: a coloring book from 1937 that is in great shape with only a few pages actually colored, and neatly, too; a copy of “Mickey Mouse Stories” from 1934, also in fantastic shape; a copy of Big Little Book #733 from 1933 (The Mail Pilot – 300 pg.) with a few loose pages, but complete with spine; AND, the first ever BLB featuring Mickey Mouse – BLB #717, a first printing with the “Skinny Mickey”. The copy is completely intact – no loose pages and a complete spine – over $3,000 in NM – on sale for only $495. We are offering these to Captain Blue Hen Comics customers before putting them for sale on the web. Tale advantage of this rare opportunity now!

slimjim_werewolfHorror Comic Fans, have we got something for you! Werewolves are “in” right now, as are other things that go bump in the night. We just picked up a nice little collection of horror comics (including “Werewolf By Night #1) and decided that instead of selling them individually, we would make up groups at a price roughly 90% off NM. Now these are not in NM shape necessarily, but are decent readers, and at these prices, a great deal. There are 9 different sets available. First-come, first-served!

bikiniMaybe, maybe not polka dots, but there will be bikinis! CUBANE is playing in the second round of Trenz Magazine’s Battle of the Bands this Thursday night (5/7) at RETOX (formerly The Pale Dog Bar in the Four Seasons S.C. on 896). This night should be a real treat, since not only are they going up against another great band and friends, PEACE WITH DOUBT, between sets there will be a bikini contest. The whole night is a win-win. Come out early and support, (ie., vote for) CUBANE, as they are scheduled to go on first (around 9:00 PM). Note: 3/4 of CUBANE (Stiggy was still on his honeymoon) played a short acoustic set in support of Shaun’s brother’s CD release party at Wilmington’s Deep Blue Restaurant this past Saturday. The Joe Trainor Trio played their entire CD to an large, enthusiastic crowd. Three Trainor boys joined in the festivities as Allen Trainor opened the night with a set, followed by Joe, then Shaun and CUBANE, and back to Joe. See you Thursday night.
