Finally…Paul’s “Idol” Picks, plus a Bowen Thor Statue & More

As this is being typed, you have less than 2 days and 3 hours to get in your American Idol Contest entry! Write down the order of the final 5 contestants. Here’s how it would go in my world: Wednesday, 4/29, Matt, the Justin Timberlake wannabe goes. The next week, we lose Kris Allen – a nice guy, but kinda boring – definitely doesn’t have “star” quality. The third place finisher will be Allison – great voice, especially for a 16 year old, and the last girl standing, but her fashion sense and the two remaining guys are just too much. That leaves Danny Gorky and Adam Lambert. I believe that Danny is far and away the most likable of any of the contestants the show has EVER had! But, Adam already has that “star” quality. He owns the entire stage, and whether you are into his style or not, you have to admit that he is ready right NOW! Adam takes it home!

Now, as to the contest, where are all of those entries?! Are you waiting until the last minute? No problem, but don’t forget, it MUST be in by this Wednesday, 4/29 before we close. To help you with those 4 questions at the bottom, even though you don’t have to get the answers right, just that they have to be from the list (scan below): I like hard rock, hard blues, & some country, but generally dislike rap. I haven’t seen a complete episode of any of the vampire-type shows and don’t plan on it.

CUBANE is quiet this week as they recuperate from the wedding reception of guitarist Tom “Stiggy” Castiglione and his beautiful bride Laura. Originally, they were to compete in the second round of TrenzMagazine’s Battle of the Bands this week, having won a first round. TrenzMagazine graciously accommodated them by allowing moving their spot to next Thursday night, May 7th. They will be appearing at Retox Bar (formerly The Pale Dog) in the Four Seasons Shopping Center down Rt 896 across from Glasgow HS. At the moment, CUBANE is scheduled to go on first at 9:00 PM. Then, they will be followed by a bikini contest and then the other band (my apologies to the “other band” – since they had to shift the date, I’m not sure who will be scheduled as I type this). Let’ see, is there anything else going on? Oh, yeah – FREE COMIC BOOK DAY is THIS Saturday, May 2nd! Festivities begin at noon and start to wind down around 5:00. Our costumed characters are due to be present from approximately 12:30 to 3:00. Unfortunately, we can not give you exact times for individual characters. (Let’s hope it isn’t extremely warm that day). Members: this is a great day to clear out your bin and join in on the fun, but probably not the best day to ask to see your pull-sheets or make special orders. Of course, we will accommodate you, but please consider the length of the line when making a request. Thank you!
