10 Cool Things about Free Comic Book Day 2009 at Captain Blue Hen Comics
#10. Further proof that Captain Blue Hen Comics is the place to be we’ve got FCBD artists beating down our door to hang out (we’ve literally had to turn some away) and just added to the roster is Charles Paul Wilson, artist of Th3rd World studios The Stuff of Legend. Charles joins Th3rd World publisher Mike Devito and production artist (and longtime CBH customer) Josh Norwood who will be hanging out from noon to 5, handing out copies of their first Free Comic Book Day offering (let’s show ‘em the famed CBH hospitality), answering questions and running a workshop/Q&A session on publishing comics and getting into the business from 12:15 to 12:45 next door at the Newark Arts Alliance. Charles is also a graduate of the Kubert School and has worked for Marvel as well so he’ll be a veritable font of useful advice for burgeoning artists and comic creators.
The Stuff of Legend is a dark fantasy adventure in which a group of toys loyal to their human master fight an unseen war to save him from every child’s worst nightmare. Led by the toy soldier known as “The Colonel” and the boy’s faithful teddy-bear Max, the toys enter the dangerous realm of The Dark where they will face off against The Boogeyman and his army – a legion of the boy’s forgotten, bitter toys! Featuring writers Mike Raicht (Army of Darkness) and Brian Smith, with art by Comic Book Idol runner-up Charles Paul Wilson III.
