X-Force/Cable: Messiah War Review
Intern’s Corner
Ok, so I walked in the door today, and went over to the new comics section. Instead of letting Dave pick out a random comic for me to read and review I decided to pick one up myself. Since I was a kid, I have absolutely loved the X-Men. Comics, movies, cartoons, video games, action figures, and even the X-Men Cartoon Maker for Windows 95 PCs. I had them all. However, as I got older, I pushed them to the side in order to pursue academia, sports, girls, and guns (Airsoft guns not real guns). Now that my basketball career has long since ended, I am single, and I don’t worry about my grades; I am returning to my first love. The X-Men. I am currently reading the Astonishing X-Men series created by Joss Whedon. I have also been watching the FOX X-Men Cartoon from the 90′s on DVD. None of this, however, has anything to do with my review of the new X-Force/Cable comic.
So the comic…to sum it up in a few words…pretty flippin’ sweet. X-Force/Cable: Messiah War is a one-shot that is leading into a Cable and X-Force crossover event. I don’t want to give too much away (because this is definitely one that you should come in and buy to read for yourself).
In the story, Cable and the X-Force, led by Wolverine, are chosen by Cyclops to protect Hope, the first mutant born in “what seemed liked forever.” (Cyclops words not mine). Cable is sent to protect the girl. When Cyclops realizes that Cable is being hunted through time by Bishop, he sends the X-Force to the future to help Cable save mutant kind. With Stryfe, Bishop, and Apocalypse scheduled to make appearances this crossover is sure to please. Wolverine is joined by Archangel, X-23, Warpath, Elixir, Domino, and Vanisher. This comic looks phenomenal. It is very detailed and looks to the X-Force in all their violent glory. This story line will run through both Cable and X-Force from April through June, so come in and pick up Chapter 1 today and get ready for Messiah War.
