Geekdom and Ring Tones
Kita’s Corner
So it has been made abundantly aware to me that more and more of us are customizing our ring tones. When someone calls you it is more likely that a sound far from that of a phone ringing will alert us to pick up.
I am guilty of this just like everyone else. I take this chance to obnoxiously subject everyone else around me to my personal flair and to announce that I am a nerd of a different color. Every time my phone rings I rejoice in the fact that I have leveled up to the sound of Final Fantasy VII. It doesn’t get old. I just need to figure out how to one-up myself in the kingdom of dorkdom with the next ring tone I create.
Friends of mine use Star Wars tones, and we’re not just talking the song, some of the movie speeches too, superhero themes, Indiana Jones, Bond quotes, etc.
So the question is, what is the best ring tone you’ve heard (be polite, it’s an awkward at Christmas dinner when someone’s phone starts moaning like a 900 number)? What’s your ring tone? What’s the most annoying one? Cuz seriously, I would hate listening to any one of the numourous Star Wars speeches every time I called my friends.

Best was a guy who had the old dramatic music (Duh-Duh-Dunnnn). It would often ring right after someone finished speaking, to add a twist to any conversation.
Worst, probably my friend with the barking dog ring tone. He had four dogs at one point, if the phone rang all of them went nuts.
My Alert for text messages and voice mails is the main viewer from the original Star Trek.
It’s fun to see who gets it.
This is not my favorite, but it’s one of the most apropriate I’ve heard.
My son’s phone has a ring tone just for me or his father. When either of us call him, the phone shouts “Game over, game over man!”
One of my co-workers has the music from the new filet-o-fish commercials McDonald’s has out. He’ll just randomly play it in the middle of the work day. “Give me back that Filet-O-Fish…give me that fish!”
My ringtone is “A Bolt of Lightning?!” from Back to the Future.
I love the filet o fish commercial! I want that ring tone!
