It has been confirmed: Samuel Jackson has been signed to play Nick Fury in up to nine Marvel films.
Comics fans, those that have seen or read Mark Millar and Brian Hitch’s Ultimates anyway, know that, for some reason, the Ultimate Marvel Universe version of S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury looked exactly like Samuel L. Jackson with a nasty scar and an eye patch. Marvel Studios decided to go with that for the version of Fury seen in their Iron Man film.
Apparently the Fury character, played by Jackson, will be the thread running through all the loosely-connected Marvel movies. The films will include Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America, Avengers, and potentially a starring role in a S.H.I.E.L.D. movie.
