Dave’s Stack – Arriving Feb. 25
And we’re back with the controversial CBH.com feature, Dave’s Stack! Controversial? Well, yeah, did you see the reaction I got last week? Grouchy remarks were flying!
Do you feel like you know this Dave guy any better as far as comics go? What do comic book reading habits tell you about a person? This week’s Stack tells me something about myself–I’m not as eclectic in my tastes as I think I am. This is just one sample of course, and I never claimed to not be a fan of the superhero genre.
Get in on this action. It’s freeing to put your Stack out there in the wind for all to see. Why am I still reading Hulk? Should I be reading Umbrella Academy? What are you getting this week? What’s on my list that makes you feel like throwing up a little? Why? Conversely, tell me why you absolutely LOVE a comic on the list.
Have a look at everything that’s coming in on Wednesday on our New Comics page.

I’m pretty sure you’re picking up everything that I am. Its actually a heavy week for me. Cap, Hulk, GL, JSA, T-Bolts. I stopped picking up Superman because, man, those new kryptonians are lame.
Wizard? Really? Do you have an uneven coffee table or something?

After a strong year or more for Superman–particularly Geoff Johns’ Action Comics–the books are taking a hit. I haven’t seen another title or group of titles turn more people off. Lots of readers are jumping off in the wake of New Krypton. It’s a real bummer, especially since that storyline will dominate the Superman line for the next twelve months or more. It seems Superman will appear only in the New Krypton mini-series with other characters taking the spotlight in the other books.
Captain America is the best superhero title. Brubaker rocks. The last issue of Thunderbolts was fantastic. Diggle’s T-Bolts have the same flavor as the current run of Cap.
Is Hulk good? I am buying it b/c I like the character and have been reading the title for 25 years, but what is Loeb doing? Is it supposed to be funny?
Wizard is good “library” reading.

I don’t really dig on T-Bolts these days. Its just way too dark. I just get it out of habit mostly. This month’s Hulk was definitely zero substance.

If you mean dark as in “I can’t really see what’s happening on the page” I agree. Some of the Marvel colorists have lighten up a bit–mix a little bit of the Titanium White in there as Bob Ross would say.
Hulk I’m picking up out of habit, too. And I don’t do that anymore. There are so many good comics out there waiting to be discovered. We need to drop the bad habits and find a new series that we are happy to buy.
Actually, it was cool to see the old Defenders in Hulk. And the pitchers sure was purty.
