New G.I. Joe Comics from IDW

G.I. Joe Back in Comics in 2009

IDW Publishing licensed G.I. Joe for comics earlier this year and now they announce its first three G.I. Joe comic series for 2009. The three new series launch early in 2009. Each of the three series is previewed this October in a #0 issue.

The first title is G.I. Joe, written by Chuck Dixon with art by Robert Atkins. It is set after Larry Hama’s G.I. Joe series, and will feature all new villains.

The second title is called G.I. Joe: Origins, by Larry Hama and Tom Feister. This is a prequel title focusing on the formation of G.I. Joe.

The third title is a miniseries called G.I. Joe: COBRA, and is written by Christos Gage and Mike Costa with art by Antonio Fuso. The series follows a G.I. Joe member as he tries to infiltrate Cobra.

And that’s not all: IDW plans to reprint older material and produce comics that lead into the August 7th release of the live action G.I. Joe movie.
