Manga, Manga, and More Manga
Tuesday, I went to an auction that said it was putting up the remmants of a card and comic shop. That got me curious, so I had to go. Got there at 2:30 and found there to be loads and loads of these white bins that said “Property of the US Post Office” on them just filled haphazardly with trades, mostly manga - some comics. If you remember, this was the day of the big ice storm. We got the announcement that I 95 was closed, so I couldn’t leave. Anyway, the comics and manga were the absolute last items to be auctioned off - right around 9:00. Well, I had put that much time in and was not to be denied. I bought ALL of the manga - considably over a 1,000 volumes! Hardly a duplicate. I have managed to sort them by publisher and the big two are Viz and Tokyo Pop, followed by CMX, Dark Horse, and others. In addition, there were several hundred trades, mostly independent, interesting material. These will probably not come into the shop, but I will be working on a master list for wants. These are not used books, but ones that were on the shelves when the store closed - still, they will be heavily discounted - none over $5.00! If you have a want list give it to me or send it by email, and I’ll check for you. Some of the non-manga trades will be at the Flea market on Staurday - see previous blog!
