Comic artists, A Christmas Story and Sales this Saturday
This Saturday, December 1st Captain Blue Hen Comics is all about starting the season right.
Our doors open at 10 am and we’ll have specials and sales running all day including your last chance at comics as low as 10 cents apiece. Plus we’ll have hundreds of overstock comics from the last year for only $1 each! Lots more will be on sale and some of it for this weekend only.
At 11 am see the movie A Christmas Story on the big screen at the Cinema Center in the Newark Shopping Center. Admission is free with the donation of non-perishable food item for the Newark Food Bank and just $1 otherwise. Sponsored by Captain Blue Hen, this annual silver screen showing follows Ralphie and his trials and tribulations to score an elusive Daisy Red Ryder BB gun . We know you’ve seen it a million times but believe me it’s more fun in the theater. Plus this will be your first chance to enter to win A Christmas Story Edition Monopoly and there will be coloring pages and comics for the kids after the show is over.
Immediately following the movie head on over to the store because from Noon to 2pm meet comic artists Scott Neely and Jamar Nicholas.
Scott is a frequent artist on the Scooby Doo comic book where he just recently made an appearance as himself in one of the stories. He’s also drawn for Cartoon Network Comics, illustrated books for Disney and Strawberry Shortcake and works on the “Hal and Al” show which airs on Kids WB in Louisiana. Visit his website here.
Jamar recently illustrated two volumes of The Grosse Adventures, a kids manga chapter book from Tokyopop, and has created several of his own characters such as Detective Boogaloo-Hip-Hop Cop. His blog can be found at http://www.jamarnicholas.blogspot.com/
Both Scott and Jamar are regulars at CBH’s Free Comic Book Day festivities and will be sketching and signing for the kids.
As a bonus- anyone who brings a canned or non-perishable food item to the store between now and December 20th gets a Free Comic Book from our selected stock.
You make it here Saturday and we’ll make the fun. Keep up to date with Captain Blue Hen’s Holiday events on our Holiday Events page.
Happy Holidays.
