Classic Star Trek at the Movie Theater November 13

October 31st, 2007 | Dave | Comics News

Continuing the celebration of Star Trek’s 40th anniversary, on Tuesday, November 13, a remastered version of the original series’ two-part episode “The Menagerie” will be shown on nearly 300 movie screens nationwide.

Boasting beefed-up special effects and a remixed soundtrack, the remastered “Menagerie” marks the first time an episode of the original Star Trek series has been shown theatrically on this scale. Presented in Cinema SurroundSound, the one-night-only event will also include a 30-minute featurette on the upgrading of this and other episodes, plus a brief introduction by Eugene “Rod” Roddenberry, son of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry.

Remastered with CGI special effects and an enhanced soundtrack, high definition episodes of the original Star Trek series began airing last year in syndication, and Season 2 recently began by airing an updated version of “Galileo Seven.” Like the first season, one newly revised episode from this season will debut each weekend until all 79 remastered shows have been telecast. Additionally, Season One of the remastered Star Trek series will be released on high-definition DVD on November 20.
