‘Hot Fuzz’ Star Simon Pegg to Play ‘Scotty’ in New ‘Trek’ Film



blankVariety reports that Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead) will be part of the Enterprise crew in J.J. Abrams’ upcoming Star Trek movie. Pegg is a former stand-up comedian and co-writer of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, as well as the BBC sit-com, Spaced. will take over the role of Mr. Scott/Scotty, the ship’s engineer; a role made famous by James Doohan in the original Star Trek series. The new film (in part) chronicles the early years of the crew of the Starship Enterprise.

    I think he’ll be a great Scotty, but he needs to go to the Doohan website and get a dilithium crystal for more power.
