‘Land of the Lost’ Movie With Will Ferrell
According to Variety Universal Pictures is going ahead with plans for a feature film version of Sid and Marty Kroft’s Saturday morning TV series Land of the Lost. Will Ferrell is starring in what will be an action/comedy.
The screenplay for Land of the Lost involves a paleontologist, his assistant and a macho tour guide trapped in a strange world that is anachronistically populated by dinosaurs, cavemen known as “Pakuni,” and the hostile reptilian “Sleestaks.” The difference from the 1970s TV series seems to be the characters—the TV show featured the Marshall family, father Rick, teenage son Will and younger daughter Holly.
According to The Hollywood Reporter Brad Silberling (Lemony Snicket) has signed on to direct the film with Bo Welch (Edward Scissorhands) providing the production design. Marty Krofft told The Reporter “They (the writers) kept the integrity of the show, but they made it very funny for Will. The adventure will all be there. There are going to be 50 Sleestaks.”
