Here’re your hints to the SEND MORE MONEY Puzzle

For those of you who hated Geometry in high school, especially if you had to write proofs, you have to admit that it helped in problems like this. To solve the SEND MORE MONEY puzzle (see a previous blog), remember that sometimes the way to map out a plan is to figure out what step would have immediately preceeded the solution. Another tactic learned in geometry is to make an assumption, use it as a fact, and see whether it leads to a contradiction or not. If it does, you know your assumption was incorrect and you have learned something. Also, we have learned by observation that when adding a column of numbers, the “carry over” is limited by the size of the column. O-K, that’s all you get, so get back to work.
