Picks of the Week: 5/31-6/5 (52, Boys, Anita Blake, Previews)
![]()
The old rules are out the window. The website has changed and I’m rolling with those changes. So, will I stick with the old way of picking one comic and one trade paperback/hard cover/graphic novel as the week’s standouts? Heck, no! Unless of course I run out of time or something–but still the rules are defenestrated.
And you know what else? I want you folks to get in on this action. Add a comment to this post and tell us what you’re looking forward to most from this week’s New Comics List.
On with the Picks of the Week:
52 Volume 1 TPB
This is the first of four handy volumes collecting the weekly adventures of Black Adam, Booster Gold, The Question, and Egg Fu, among others. It may sound weird, but believe me, 52 is a great page-turning serial.
Boys Volume 1 TPB & Boys#7
The Boys are back in town; now from Dynamite Entertainment. The TPB collects the first six twisted issues originally available from DC/Wildstorm. Boys #7 continues the depravity you would expect from Garth Ennis (Preacher) and Darrick Robertson (Transmetropolitan).
Laurell K. Hamilton’s Anita Blake Vampire Hunter Guilty Pleasures Handbook & Laurell K. Hamilton’s Strange Candy TPB
You may know about the Anita Blake mini from Marvel/Dabel Bros., but did you know about this companion book and trade?
Previews & Marvel Previews June 2007
You won’t know the players without a program. Diamond Comics puts out these catalogs every month to solicit items coming out in the near future. I’ve written about the benefits of grabbing these books before.
