TESTIMONIALS: Kind Words for Captain Blue Hen

“Fabulous store! Worth the trip if you’re anywhere near Philadelphia or Newark. An open, clean layout with two booths (like from a drugstore) for reading, waiting, or browsing. They target comic readers and are actively supporting and increasing their stock of trade paperbacks and graphic novels. The owner/manager is friendly and helpful. They stock a huge variety of comics (including kids’ books, manga, European, indy, alternative, Archives, and adult), and they’re arranged in racks with similar titles and areas of interest. Plus, they offer soda and candy. Even if they don’t have what you’re looking for, they’re never dismissive or uninterested.”

“I collect comic books and I have for many years. I always buy them at Captain Blue Hen comics. As you might know, the local college, University of Delaware has a mascot of a blue hen, and that is where this name comes from. For a small store they have a really good selection of comics, trading cards, and various collectibles. They do have promotions, like free comic book day, and meet the authors of comics for autographs, they do things like Harry Potter day, and things like that, but not just for kids. I should also mention the employees are also comic book collectors, so they can help you out a lot.”

“I do not regularly buy comic books, so I’m no expert. But when I went in, it seemed like a well run store, with tons to choose from, and stuff ranging from kid to adult. They have a free comic book day a few times a year, so make sure you check that out! Lots of parking!”

“This store has a large variety of comics available. The staff at this store are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I like the fact that once a year they have a comic festival and sell comics at a reduced price. One year at the comic festival they had some actual comic writers. The store also has good business hours.”

“Your shop was my store for the four years I was in college. You guys are great.” -Jeremy W.
